Job summary

Quantum Computing Inc. (QCi) seeks a Test Engineer, Hardware, to join a team developing world-class semiconductor-based products for optical communications, remote sensing, quantum sensing, and imaging.

You will design, develop, and test advanced optical and optoelectronic components and modules, including III-V avalanche photodetectors, and build testbeds for evaluation. You will implement test automation strategies, analyze data, participate in ECOs, and contribute to continuous improvement

Qualifications

• 3+ years of experience as a test engineer with optoelectronic devices
• Experience developing, scripting, and running test software for optical components and systems
• Hands‑on experience with lab equipment used in optoelectronic device testing
• Strong understanding of DOE principles and failure analysis techniques to optimize optical system performance
• Masters or PhD in Physics, Electrical Engineering, or related field
• Experience with photodetector technology, particularly avalanche photodiodes
• Working knowledge of compound semiconductor device physics
• Proficiency with optical design/analysis tools (Zemax/FRED)
• Familiarity with CAD tools for design/documentation
• Proficiency in Python scripting

Responsibilities

• Provide test engineering support for design, prototyping, and delivery of proof-of-concept optoelectronic devices
• Develop and implement testbeds to evaluate performance of optoelectronic chips, components, and modules
• Use DOE and failure analysis to identify and resolve issues affecting optical performance
• Develop strategies for test automation to improve accuracy and efficiency in production
• Organize and manage test data storage and retrieval; analyze/test data and present key results
• Support ECOs and engineering change orders for optical components
• Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives in development and production testing
