Job summary

SpaceX in Redmond is seeking a Hardware Reliability Engineer (Starlink) to tackle production issues, perform root‑cause analysis, and drive design improvements for on‑orbit hardware reliability. You will work hands‑on with sub‑assemblies, from verification to manufacturing processes, to maintain high quality and throughput.

The role requires a bachelor's in engineering and 2+ years in design or manufacturing; a Master’s degree is preferred.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering required; 2+ years in design/manufacturing roles preferred.
  • Strong root-cause analysis and problem-solving skills for hardware reliability.
  • Experience with PFMEA, SPC, and data-driven process improvements.

Responsibilities

  • Perform hands-on failure analysis to drive root-cause and corrective action for production, test, and on-orbit failures.
  • Develop, validate, and implement production processes for existing and next-gen hardware to sustain quality and throughput.
  • Create data analysis programs to identify yield, failure rates, and implement SPC.
  • Conduct build quality reviews to ensure design intent and improve manufacturability.
  • Collaborate with production to reduce in-process inspections and maintain inspection plans.
  • Define reliability testing strategy to monitor manufacturing health and long-term defects.
