Job summary

Starlink is seeking a Sr. Wet Process Equipment Engineer to own the chemical processing equipment used to manufacture silicon heterojunction solar cells at scale.

You will collaborate with the existing Texturing Process Engineering team to ensure world-class performance, uptime, and reliability for large-volume production. You will drive equipment availability and stability, lead maintenance strategies, and partner with process engineers to scale tooling for Starlink satellites and Moon/Mars

Qualifications

• Extensive experience with wet processing equipment used in solar cell production.
• Ability to design and implement preventive maintenance programs.
• Strong data analysis skills to improve UPH and defect performance.
• Experience with high-throughput texturing and pre-cleaning tools.
• Familiarity with cleanroom manufacturing standards.

Responsibilities

• Install, qualify, maintain, and improve high-throughput texturing and preclean equipment.
• Drive reliability and uptime for large-volume production; run experiments and analyze data.
• Develop preventive maintenance strategies and spare parts programs.
• Lead root-cause analysis on equipment issues including chemical delivery, pumps, robotics, and automation.
• Partner with Process Engineers to implement new requirements on equipment.
• Evaluate next-gen texturing tools for 1GW+ per tool scale production.
• Collaborate with vendors on equipment improvements and custom solutions.
• Establish performance metrics and SPC for hardware stability.
• Ensure equipment meets cleanroom, safety, and high-reliability standards.
• Analyze production processes from a first principles, physics-based approach.
