Job summary

Atom Computing in Boulder, CO seeks a Hardware Engineering Manager to lead the architecture and delivery of mixed-signal PCBs for quantum control systems. This player-coach role combines leadership with hands-on hardware development in a fast-paced environment.

You will supervise a team of design engineers through prototyping, validation, and production, collaborating across mechanical, firmware, software, and manufacturing domains to ensure robust, scalable solutions.

Qualifications

• BS/MS/PhD in Electrical Engineering or Computer Engineering.
• 8+ years hardware engineering experience with PCB fabrication and vendor interaction.
• 2+ years leading a team of engineers.
• Proven track record delivering hardware projects from design to manufacturing.
• Deep knowledge of PCB fabrication processes and failure modes.

Responsibilities

• Lead and mentor a team of hardware engineers for PCB design, bring-up, and test.
• Collaborate with quantum physicists, optical engineers, and hardware engineers.
• Manage PCB fabrication vendors and contract assembly to hit quality targets.
• Lead root-cause investigations and corrective actions for defects.
• Oversee projects from definition to production with milestones and risks.
• Drive process improvements to scale production while maintaining quality.
