Job summary

Atom Computing is seeking a Hardware Engineering Manager in Boulder, CO to lead the architecture, development, and delivery of mixed-signal PCBs and hardware for quantum control systems.

This player-coach role combines hands-on design with people leadership, mentoring a team of hardware engineers and coordinating cross-functional work with physics, optics, firmware, and manufacturing to meet schedule and quality targets. The base salary ranges from $180,000 to $220,000 with bonus and equity.

Qualifications

• Experience leading hardware teams delivering complex hardware projects from design through manufacturing.
• Deep knowledge of PCB fabrication and assembly processes and failure modes.
• Experience with root-cause analysis and corrective action for hardware quality issues.

Responsibilities

• Lead a team of hardware engineers for PCB design, bring-up, and test of quantum control system instruments.
• Collaborate with physicists, optical engineers, and hardware teams to align hardware roadmap with system needs.
• Manage vendors for PCB fabrication and assembly, including quotes and lead times, ensuring quality and delivery targets.
• Oversee hardware projects from definition to production, tracking milestones and risks across teams.
• Drive process improvements for design, verification, and deployment to scale production while maintaining quality.
