Location: Franklin, PA
The Hardware Development Engineer plays a crucial role in designing and developing electronic hardware by collaborating with global team members to meet the needs of the underground soft rock organization.
Key Job Responsibilities
- Design and develop reliable electronic hardware for high-performance mining machinery.
- Manage all aspects of the hardware design cycle, including requirements capture, design specifications, reviews, system integration, troubleshooting, testing, product release, and lifecycle maintenance.
- Interact professionally with customers and engineers both domestically and internationally, including team leads, technology managers, and system architects.
- Travel domestically and abroad as needed.
- Gather and define global requirements for new hardware functionalities.
- Test and validate new machine features before their release on Joy underground machines.
- Create training materials and documentation to support new machine features.
Qualifications/Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or Electrical Engineering Technology.
- 3-5+ years of experience in an electronics hardware role.
- Experience in hardware design is advantageous.
- Ability to manage projects within tight deadlines.
- Experience in the mining industry, heavy equipment, or mobile machinery is preferred.
- Hands-on knowledge of engineering software, integration, embedded systems, safety standards, troubleshooting, and problem-solving.
- Excellent communication and documentation skills.
- Customer-focused with the ability to work independently and in teams.
- Detail-oriented, motivated, and able to work in a fast-paced environment.
