A leading automotive company is looking for a Motorsports Propulsion Hardware Development Engineer to enhance the Corvette GT3 racing program. The role involves collaborating with various teams to improve hardware performance and reliability, ensuring high-quality outcomes for racing activities.
Onsite: This position requires an employee to be on-site in Pontiac, Michigan five days per week.
Travel is minimal and primarily related to validating critical dyno-based development work during track testing. Weekday or weekend off-shift support may be required on a limited basis to meet the needs of the program and to work around the schedule of high-demand test facilities.
The Role
We are seeking a Motorsports Propulsion Hardware Development Engineer to support propulsion hardware development activities for GM’s exciting Corvette GT3 racing program. You’ll work closely with the Senior Hardware Development Engineer, design team, machine shop, supplier base, and engine build team to help develop, prioritize, and implement performance, efficiency, and reliability improvements with first-time quality. Your creativity, initiative, and high level of independent judgment are key to your success.
Joining the Sports Car Propulsion Team will provide you with the opportunity to showcase and develop your skills through challenging individual and collaborative development activities – ultimately helping our Corvette GT3 teams succeed on race day.
What You’ll Do
Support hardware development, failure analysis, issue tracking and resolution activities
Work and communicate closely with the Senior Hardware Development Engineer regarding development and quality initiatives
Collaborate with internal and external design resources for part design and issue resolution
Employ internal design tools to assist in the development of new or revised hardware
Utilize analytical tools and methods to help identify and prioritize hardware improvements and performance gains
Gather and summarize propulsion system data to feed into simulation and analytical tools to improve model correlation fidelity
Work with the Engine Build and Quality departments to assure the first-time quality of internal and external supply chains
Stay abreast of new technology and competitive products related to assigned program
Support the specification, instrumentation, setup, troubleshooting, and results reporting for engine development tests
Identify and implement hardware development process efficiency improvements
Collaborate with multiple GM groups and partners supporting Sports Car racing programs
Participate in program meetings with key internal and external stakeholders
