The Professional Group in Ann Arbor is seeking an experienced Hardscape Landscape Foreman to lead our outdoor construction crew. You will manage day-to-day on-site operations, translating complex designs into hard features such as interlocking brick patios, retaining walls, walkways and stone installations while ensuring safety and project scheduling.

  • Experience: 3+ years hands-on landscape construction or hardscaping.
  • Leadership: 1–2 years in a foreman, crew leader, or lead installer role.
  • Technical mastery: block cutting, grading, interlocking concrete paver systems, and retaining wall engineering rules.
  • Licensing: Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record (CDL or Chauffeur's license preferred for driving commercial trucks/trailers).
  • Physical Demands: Ability to lift up to 80 lbs. consistently and work outdoors in various weather.

Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced, detail-oriented Hardscape Landscape Foreman to lead our outdoor construction crew. In this role, you will manage day-to-day on-site operations, executing complex hardscape designs including interlocking brick paver patios, structural retaining walls, walkways, and custom stone installations. You will translate landscape blueprints into reality while keeping the crew safe, efficient, and on schedule

Key Responsibilities

  • Crew Leadership: Direct, train, and motivate a 2-to-4-person crew. Manage daily site schedules, track material use, and assign tasks.
  • Hardscape Construction: Execute high-quality installation of patios, steps, seating walls, walkways, driveways, outdoor living features, and drainage solutions.
  • Blueprint Reading & Layout: Read landscape architectural blueprints, calculate elevations, ensure proper slope/grading, and accurately shoot lines using transit/laser levels
  • Equipment Operation: Safely operate a variety of heavy machinery and specialty tools, including skid steers (Bobcats), mini-excavators, trenchers, compactors, and masonry saws
  • Site Preparation: Oversee soil excavation, subgrade compaction, base gravel installation, and geotextile placement to ensure lifetime structural integrity.
  • Client & Management Communication: Maintain professional contact with the production manager and clients on-site to address questions and deliver project updates.

Requirements & Qualifications

  • Experience: Minimum of 3+ years of hands-on landscape construction or hardscaping experience.
  • Leadership: Minimum of 1–2 years in a foreman, crew leader, or lead installer role.
  • Technical Mastery: Proven knowledge of block cutting, grading, interlocking concrete paver systems, and retaining wall engineering rules.
  • Licensing: Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record (CDL or Chauffeur's license preferred for driving commercial trucks/trailers).
  • Physical Demands: Ability to lift up to 80 lbs. consistently and work outdoors under various weather conditions (heat, rain, cold).
  • Languages: Bilingual in English and Spanish is a major plus
