Job summary

The Port of Oakland is seeking a Harbor Facilities Maintenance Manager in Oakland, CA. The role oversees maintenance, minor construction, and equipment systems across maritime and real estate assets with a focus on reliability and customer satisfaction.

The position requires a bachelor’s degree, eight years of supervisory maintenance/engineering experience, and a CA Class C license. TSA background checks are mandatory; on-call duty is required for uninterrupted operations.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in business, engineering, or related field.
• Eight years of experience supervising maintenance/engineering functions.
• Must possess a valid California Class C driver’s license.
• On-call duty availability for emergencies or uninterrupted operations.
• TSA background check and fingerprint clearance required.

Responsibilities

• Manages the Harbor Facilities Maintenance Department for building/equipment systems, electrical power distribution, roadways, landscaping, and related facilities.
• Reviews and assigns maintenance work requests and service orders.
• Establishes policies, procedures, schedules, and methods for maintenance and minor construction.
• Oversees preventive/predictive maintenance programs with engineering staff.
• Supervises, coaches, trains, and evaluates staff; handles grievances and disciplinary actions.
• Reviews and approves equipment purchases and specifications; coordinates with other Port divisions and tenants.
• Prepares and controls the department budget; responds to emergencies and incident command during disasters.
