Catholic Charities Brooklyn and Queens, Inc. is seeking a Handyperson to join the on-site maintenance team for affordable housing managed by POP Management.

The role involves routine repairs, cleaning, and ensuring safety standards in tenant units and common areas across 25+ buildings. Qualified applicants will have high school diploma or GED, experience with cleaning/repair equipment, and basic carpentry, electrical, and plumbing knowledge.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of cleaning/repair equipment (vacuum, shop vac, floor machines, snow blower, landscaping tools).
• Proficiency in carpentry, electrical and plumbing basics.
• Knowledge of boilers, electrical machinery, elevators, HVAC, and fire pump/standpipe/sprinkler systems.

Responsibilities

• Cooperate with Superintendent to maintain property in optimum condition.
• Perform routine repairs and document via Service Request Orders.
• Coordinate with Superintendent, vendors, and contractors for mechanical systems inspections and maintenance.
• Carry out cleaning tasks and follow NYC sanitation guidelines.
• Participate in floor care and prepare vacant units for rental.
• Provide snow/ice removal and inventory monitoring.
• Ensure safe use of cleaning supplies and equipment.
• Attend trainings and staff meetings; cover front desk as needed.
• Provide back-up coverage for other POP facilities.
