Job summary

Catholic Charities Brooklyn and Queens, Inc. seeks a Handyperson to join the on-site maintenance team, ensuring safe, affordable housing for tenants across POP Management properties. You will perform routine repairs, assist with cleaning duties, and help prepare units for rental while coordinating with on-site staff and vendors.

Requirements include high school/GED, English proficiency, and basic skills in carpentry, electrical, plumbing. FDNY Fitness Certificate may be needed within 6 months.

Qualifications

• High school or GED required; related experience may waive this requirement.
• Ability to read, write and speak English.
• Experience with cleaning and repair equipment and basic hand tools.
• Knowledge of carpentry, electrical, plumbing basics and safety.
• FDNY Certificate of Fitness (as applicable) within 6 months of hire.
• Bilingual abilities (Spanish, Korean, Chinese, Russian) preferred.

Responsibilities

• Perform routine repairs in and around properties managed by POP Management.
• Maintain safe, clean environments and adhere to NYC sanitation guidelines.
• Assist with cleaning tasks and floor care; prepare vacant units for rent.
• Assist with on-site inspections and maintenance of mechanical systems.
• Provide coverage at front desk or other POP facilities as needed.
• Attend trainings and staff meetings; participate in special projects.
