Job summary

Jericho Project in New York is seeking a Handyperson for the Melrose (Bronx) site. You will perform small to medium repairs, install fixtures, drywall, move and assemble furniture, and support the maintenance team in turnover of vacant units.

This full-time, non-exempt role requires after-hours availability, knowledge of plumbing, electrical and carpentry, ability to lift 50 lbs, and the readiness to work with building staff to keep the property safe and well-maintained.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of trades such as plumbing, electricity and carpentry.
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
• Willingness to work after hours and be on-call for emergencies.
• Ability to repair rooms to move in ready in a timely manner.
• Ability to receive and carry out oral and written instructions.
• Capability to plan and schedule work and complete work orders.

Responsibilities

• Sweeps and mops lobby, hallways and stairs daily and as needed.
• Cleans sidewalks up to 18 inches into the street.
• Cleans bathrooms and common areas.
• Empties office trash and cleans compactor rooms daily.
• Puts garbage on the sidewalk/curb per DOS schedule.
• Cleans front, rear and side yards.
• Keeps roofs and drains clean.
• Cleans windows, doors, radiators daily.
• Paints over graffiti and repairs holes in stairways.
