Job summary

Akamai Technologies, Inc. in Cambridge is seeking a Hardware Engineer II to design, test, and qualify next‑generation server platforms powering Akamai Cloud. You will validate performance and reliability, working with OEMs to bring up systems end-to-end.

Requirements include 5+ years of experience, a BS in Computer Engineering or related field, Linux scripting, embedded systems debugging, and knowledge of Ethernet, PCIe, NVMe and GPU architectures. On-site 5 days/week.

Qualifications

• 5 years of relevant experience and a Bachelor's degree in Computer Engineering or a related field.
• Understanding of computer architecture, server hardware components, firmware and operating systems.
• Experience with Linux environments and scripting (Bash or Python).
• Hands-on experience with embedded systems and debugging with lab tools.
• Proficiency with Ethernet, TCP/IP, PCIe, NVMe, DDR and GPU architectures.
• Strong problem solving, documentation and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Testing next-generation server hardware platforms and components for performance, power and reliability.
• Documenting and reporting results, identifying defects and recommending improvements.
• Diagnosing and resolving hardware issues in engineering and manufacturing environments with internal and external teams.
• Developing, maintaining, and enhancing test scripts to validate existing and upcoming hardware features.
• Keeping up to date with new computing, networking, storage and hardware acceleration technology standards.
