Job summary

Akamai is seeking a Hardware Engineer II for its Cambridge, MA office to help design, test and qualify next-generation server platforms powering Akamai's CDN and Cloud Compute. You will test hardware components for performance, power and reliability, develop test scripts in Bash/Python, diagnose issues with lab tools, and document results.

This role requires 5 days on-site in Cambridge and a Bachelor's in Computer Engineering, plus 5 years of relevant experience.

Qualifications

• Five years of relevant experience and a Bachelor's degree in Computer Engineering or a related field.
• Understanding of computer architecture, server hardware components, firmware and operating systems.
• Experience with Linux environments and scripting (Bash or Python).
• Hands-on experience with embedded systems and debugging with lab tools.
• Experience with Ethernet, TCP/IP, PCIe, NVMe, DDR and GPU architectures.
• Strong problem solving, documentation, and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Test next-generation server hardware platforms and components for performance, power and reliability.
• Document and report results, identify defects and recommend improvements.
• Diagnose and resolve hardware issues in engineering and manufacturing environments with internal and external teams.
• Develop, maintain and enhance test scripts to validate hardware features.
• Keep up to date with computing, networking, storage and hardware acceleration standards.
