Job summary

Peraton seeks a Cloud Operations & Engineering Team Lead to guide five cloud engineers in provisioning, operating, and maintaining a large AWS+Azure environment. The role blends hands-on engineering (50–60%) with leadership (40–50%), and requires coordinating with stakeholders while remaining in the environment to code and troubleshoot.

Remote role with East Coast hours, conversion to Peraton at $175k after six months, with opportunities to influence automation, incident response, and cloud

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree required or equivalent experience plus 12+ years in cloud technologies.
• Experience leading five or more engineers, setting priorities and coordinating with stakeholders.
• Hands-on experience operating AWS at enterprise scale with multi-account management.
• Proven ability to implement IaC via CI/CD pipelines (Terraform) and read CloudFormation.
• Strong scripting (Python) for automation and operational tooling.

Responsibilities

• Lead the day-to-day technical direction of the cloud engineering team and balance load across accounts.
• Prioritize ServiceNow changes and Jira tasks for provisioning, changes, and decommissioning of services.
• Plan and manage operational activities: patching, maintenance windows, cost optimization; engage stakeholders.
• Manage on-call/ escalation model and improve monitoring, automation, and processes.
• Coordinate with Cloud Business Office and other teams; participate in hiring and performance feedback.
