Job summary

Martin Marietta’s North East Quarry in Maryland is seeking a safety‑mocused Utility Person to join our team for cross‑functional duties in plant maintenance, production, and equipment operation. Responsibilities include greasing, lubrication, housekeeping, and basic equipment operation.

Hours are 10 AM to 6 PM, with weekend work as necessary. Base pay range is $24.25–$30.00 per hour, with full‑time benefits; a focus on safety, reliability and teamwork in a fast-paced quarry setting.

Qualifications

• Possess a High School Diploma, GED or equivalent experience to perform the responsibilities associated with this position
• Have experience in the building materials industry (preferred)

Responsibilities

• Perform preventative and routine maintenance on mobile and plant equipment
• Perform daily pre/post‑shift inspections on equipment and maintain maintenance log
• Operate a hand shovel and a skid steer, front end loader, and other tools to clean around plant equipment and to maintain roadways and parking area
• Operate a water truck to limit airborne dust
• Participate in plant operations including production, loading and shipping, and quality control
• Maintain good housekeeping in areas of responsibility and safe traffic flow throughout the site
• Operate plant‑specific mobile equipment such as excavators and haul trucks in a safe manner as needed
• Operate an automated scale and related computer software program to generate customer tickets
• Administer site specific training to visitors and ensures site guidelines are followed
• Direct customers to the appropriate areas of the site
• Maintain accurate records of aggregate tonnage and sales activities on a daily/weekly/monthly basis and prepares basic reports
• Communicate with other site personnel to ensure proper recording of sales activities and fulfillment of customer needs
• Answering customer calls and communicates pricing, product descriptions, and product availability
• Maintain professionalism in all situations in the workplace and when working with customers
• Aiding in the training of co‑workers as needed
• Performing other duties as assigned by supervisor
