Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited physical therapy assistant program with an Associate’s degree in science or applied science approved by the American Physical Therapy Association.
• Current CPR certification.
• Current certification or license as required by state law.
• Must be a licensed driver with a vehicle in good working order.

Responsibilities

• Provides direct physical therapy under the direction of the physical therapist and according to the physician's plan of care.
• Treats patients to relieve pain, develop or restore function, and maximize performance.
• Directs and aids patients in active and passive therapeutic exercises, gait and functional training, transfers, and prosthetic training.
• Utilizes modalities (heat, cold, water, light, electricity, ultrasound, massage).
• Instructs patients in care and use of wheelchairs, braces, crutches, canes, and prosthetic/orthotic devices.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
