Job summary

Westchester Medical Center Health Network is looking for a Patient Care Technician to provide fundamental patient care under the supervision of a registered nurse or licensed practical nurse. You will assist with ADLs, mobility, specimen collection, EKGs or phlebotomy as needed, and help maintain a safe patient environment.

Responsibilities include supporting the care plan, communicating changes to the RN, and helping with discharge procedures.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 6 months' recent experience in a similar setting or behavioral health setting, or a nursing student with one clinical rotation completed.
• High school diploma or GED required.

Responsibilities

• Provide ADL assistance (hygiene, toileting, feeding) and support patient safety under supervision.
• Assist RN with plan of care and patient safety during observation; support traction and cast care.
• Report changes in patient condition to RN promptly.
• Collaborate with team to prioritize tasks and complete assignments.
• Answer calls promptly and communicate patient/family needs to staff.
• Transport patients as needed and assist with lifting, moving, and ambulation.
• Accompany patients on discharge as requested.
• Collect specimens, label accurately, and deliver to lab; perform EKGs/Phlebotomy as needed.
• Maintain clean, safe environment; update white boards and report hazards.
• Assist in securing repairs, report equipment issues, and restock areas.
• Transfer patients' personal effects as needed.
