Job summary

Westchester Medical Center in New York seeks a Patient Care Technician under the supervision of a Registered Professional Nurse to deliver direct patient care, prepare patients for treatments, and assist with daily living activities. Requirements include a high school diploma and two years of patient care experience or completion of a PCT program; substitutions are allowed

Qualifications

• High school diploma and two years’ patient care experience in a medical setting (or completion of a Patient Care Technician program).
• Alternatively, completion of a PCT in-service program or equivalent as determined by nursing leadership.
• Substitutions: 30 college credits in patient care may substitute for experience; EMT/Nurse Aide with EKG/Phlebotomy may substitute for one year; Patient Care Technician or Medical Assistant may substitute for one year.

Responsibilities

• Provides direct patient care under the supervision of a Registered Professional Nurse.
• Records vital signs and intake/output; assists with meals, hygiene, and activities of daily living.
• Transports patients to tests, procedures, and therapeutic activities; maintains unit supplies and reports changes to the treatment team.
• Assists with admission and discharge processes as directed by nursing leadership.
