Job summary

SMS group is seeking a Mechanical Engineer for our East Palestine, Ohio facility. The role involves hands-on work in mechanical design, assembly, commissioning, and service for steel-industry equipment, with project management responsibilities.

You will support equipment rebuilds in the workshop, develop drawings, perform testing and calculations, and maintain customer relationships while traveling occasionally to sites.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Associate degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field with relevant experience.
• Experience creating CAD models and drawings using Creo, SolidWorks and AutoCAD.
• Strong problem solving and communication skills.
• Willingness to work hands-on and in an office environment, travel occasionally.

Responsibilities

• Work on mechanical design, assembly, commissioning and service for steel-industry equipment.
• Provide engineering support for equipment rebuilds in the workshop.
• Manage projects of varying size and scope.
• Develop and maintain drawings and shop travelers.
• Perform testing and inspections on repaired equipment.
• Conduct calculations and analyses for loads, stresses and deflections.
• Serve as technical contact for customers.
