Job summary

SMS group USA is seeking a Mechanical Engineer to join our East Palestine, Ohio facility. You will work hands-on across design engineering, assembly, condition monitoring, and project management to support steel industry customers.

The role involves CAD/modeling, site travel, and collaboration with multidisciplinary teams to deliver reliable equipment and services. This position emphasizes both office work and hands-on activities, with opportunities for growth and professional development.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Associate Degree in Mechanical Engineering or Mechanical Engineering Technology.
• Experience creating CAD models and drawings using Creo, SolidWorks, and AutoCAD.
• Strong problem solving and troubleshooting skills.
• Willingness to work hands-on and in an office environment.
• Willingness to travel to customer sites (travel <10%).

Responsibilities

• Design, assemble, commission, and service equipment used in steel mills.
• Provide engineering support for equipment rebuilds in the workshop.
• Manage projects of varying size and scope.
• Develop and maintain project documentation including drawings and shop travelers.
• Perform testing and inspections on equipment sent to the shop.
• Conduct engineering calculations on loads, stresses, deflections, fatigue, and integrity.
• Serve as the technical contact and build relationships with customers.
