Job summary

SMS group USA seeks a Mechanical Engineer I to apply engineering fundamentals designing and supporting advanced mechanical equipment for metals processing facilities. You will work under experienced engineers to create 3D models, drawings, layouts and BOMs, and assist with tests, troubleshooting, and field verifications.

Joining you will bring strong analytical and communication skills, CAD experience (Creo preferred), and a collaborative, detail‑driven approach.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related discipline.
• Graduation in December 2025 or May 2026.
• Fundamental knowledge of mechanical engineering principles.
• Experience with CAD software; Creo experience preferred.
• Strong communication and teamwork abilities.
• Willingness to travel domestically and internationally.

Responsibilities

• Create, maintain, and revise 3D models, engineering drawings, and bills of materials.
• Support equipment layouts, feasibility studies, reports, and design calculations.
• Apply mechanical engineering principles related to statics, strength of materials, power transmission, and machine design.
• Participate in design reviews, equipment inspections, risk assessments, and acceptance testing.
• Assist with equipment selection, supplier reviews, procurement support, and clarifications.
• Prepare operating and maintenance manuals.
• Support installation, commissioning, troubleshooting, and field verification activities.
• Collaborate with engineering, supply chain, suppliers, workshops, and project teams.
• Contribute to product improvements, lessons learned, and safe design practices.
