Job summary

Emanuelson-Podas in Brookings, SD is seeking a Mechanical Engineering Intern to support our mechanical team with design, documentation, and construction administration for a variety of projects. This role provides hands–on experience in engineering analysis, drafting, coordination, and project support from concept through construction.

Interns will gain exposure to real world design applications while developing technical proficiency, communication skills, and an understanding of industry

Qualifications

• Authorization to work in the United States. No visa sponsorship available.
• Pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering from an ABET accredited program.
• Sophomore or Junior standing.
• Minimum GPA of 3.0 preferred.

Responsibilities

• Participate in the mechanical design process, preparing accurate drawings, layouts, and details.
• Assist in developing HVAC and plumbing designs from concept through completion of construction.
• Prepare engineering design calculations and assist with technical analysis.
• Conduct research on new technologies and applicable code requirements.
• Assist in writing engineering reports and project documentation.
• Follow EP drafting standards and maintain consistent sheet and background setup.
• Support preparation of construction documents with accuracy and completeness.
• Coordinate effectively with internal staff and other design professionals.
• Meet assigned project deadlines (occasional overtime may be required).
• Use tools such as AutoCAD, Revit, Bluebeam, and Microsoft Office.
