Job summary

Silgan Plastic Food Containers in North Carolina seeks a Mechanical Engineer/Designer to support plant operations and new product development through part and tool design, analysis of materials, and hands-on problem solving. Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or Engineering Technology.
Strong written and verbal communication skills and teamwork.
Willingness to be hands-on to complete tasks or projects.

Responsibilities

Design, develop, and trial prototype/production tooling for new products and improvements.
Specify system components or modify products to meet specifications.
Research and oversee installation of mechanical products and processes.
Investigate failures and recommend solutions to defects.
Use CAD software such as AutoCad/Solidworks/ProE for design work.
Conduct testing and feasibility studies of materials and equipment.
Design test control apparatus and develop testing procedures.
Assist with training and maintaining training records.
Coordinate problem-solving teams and support policies.
