Job summary

Utah Transit Authority is seeking motivated apprentices to join a four-year maintenance apprenticeship program in Utah. Trainees will progress through ten competency modules and gain hands-on experience with brakes, electrical systems, HVAC, and wheelchairs, under supervision.

Starting pay ranges from $27.13 to $31.13 per hour with shift differentials and a graduation path to Journeyist at $36.82 per hour. UTA offers extensive benefits, training, and career advancement opportunities.

Qualifications

• Must be at least 18 years old and able to obtain a Class B CDL with passenger endorsement within 60 days.
• Must pass aptitude and standardized tests determined by UTA.
• Be a safe driver with limited moving violations in past 3 years and no DUI within 10 years.
• Equivalent combination of education and experience acceptable per union guidelines.

Responsibilities

• Participates in related technical instruction and classroom sessions.
• Completes competency modules (10 areas) within the allotted time.
• Assists advanced-skill employees in repairs and rebuilds.
• Performs preventative maintenance inspections and repairs as assigned.
• Attends apprenticeship program as outlined by UTA and bargaining agreement.
