Job summary

Utah Transit Authority is seeking a maintenance technician to perform preventive maintenance, inspections, and assist with running and heavy repairs on FrontRunner locomotives, cabs, and coaches. You will work on doors, HVAC, brakes, electronics, and diesel engines while coordinating with teammates to ensure service reliability.

The role requires a high school diploma or equivalent, mechanical experience or technical training, and the ability to pass MET and related certifications.

Qualifications

  • High School diploma or equivalent.
  • 2 years’ mechanical work experience and/or 1 year technical school/training.
  • Knowledge and understanding of vehicle maintenance inspection and repair techniques.
  • Knowledge of pneumatic, mechanical, and electronic theory and principles.
  • Able to pass the MET and Commuter Rail Helper hands on test.
  • Competent with computer systems including Outlook.
  • Able to work safely on energized equipment up to 480 VAC and 600 VDC.
  • Be able to acquire and maintain QMP certification.
  • Certified as a Qualified Maintenance Person for Locomotive and operate shop equipment.
  • Complete training program and probationary period.

Responsibilities

  • Perform preventive maintenance, inspections, and assist advanced-skilled staff with running repair of FrontRunner locomotives and subsystems.
  • Maintain and repair doors, HVAC, brakes, electrical, diesel engines, and related components.
  • Communicate effectively with supervisors and teammates and uphold safety standards.
