The Transit Bus Mechanic Apprentice program offers hands-on training combined with classroom instruction to develop skills for a Journey-level Transit Bus Technician role.

Apprentices learn to inspect, diagnose, maintain, and repair diesel, electric, hybrid, and alternative fuel propulsion systems, electrical, brake, HVAC, and body systems under certified supervision.

Qualifikationen

Description

The Transit Bus Mechanic Apprentice participates in a structured training program designed to develop the skills necessary to become a Journey-level Transit Bus Technician. Apprentices receive a combination of on-the-job training and classroom instruction while working under the supervision of certified technicians.

The program prepares apprentices to inspect, diagnose, maintain, and repair transit buses and related systems, including diesel, electric, hybrid, and alternative fuel propulsion systems, electrical systems, brake systems, HVAC systems, and vehicle body components.

Upon successful completion of the apprenticeship program, employees may advance to Transit Bus Technician / Journey-Level Mechanic positions.

The Apprenticeship Program Includes Is Structured To Include

• 5,350 hours of On-the-Job Training (OJT)


• 650 hours of Related Instruction


• Total Program Hours: 6,000

Candid

Education

• High school diploma or GED required.

Licenses and Certifications

• Commercial Driver’s License (CDL)


• Diesel mechanic certification or associate degree


• Automotive Service Excellence (ASE) certifications
