Job summary

SMT, Inc. in Raleigh, NC seeks an experienced HR Generalist to support employees and managers across HR functions in a fast‑paced manufacturing environment. This hands‑on role emphasizes employee relations, recruiting, onboarding, benefits, and HRIS administration while ensuring confidentiality and policy adherence.

You will build strong relationships at all levels, handle investigations, support training, and participate in continuous improvement initiatives across SMT and The Rise Companies.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field preferred.
• 3+ years of progressive Human Resources experience, preferably in an HR Generalist or similar role.
• Manufacturing, industrial, construction, or hourly-workforce HR experience preferred.
• Knowledge of FMLA, ADA, FLSA, EEO, and employee relations.
• Experience with recruiting, onboarding, benefits, performance management, and HRIS systems.

Responsibilities

• Serve as a primary HR resource for employees, supervisors, and managers regarding policies, procedures, benefits, and workplace concerns.
• Build relationships with employees and maintain a visible HR presence throughout the facility.
• Provide guidance to supervisors on employee relations, performance, attendance, disciplinary matters, and policy interpretation.
• Assist with employee investigations, documentation, corrective actions, and other employee relations matters.
• Coordinate recruiting activities, including job postings, applicant screening, interviews, and offer preparation.
• Manage onboarding for new employees and ensure a positive new-hire experience.
• Conduct new-hire orientation and assist with benefit enrollment and HR systems.
• Maintain accurate employee records and HRIS information.
• Assist with status changes, promotions, transfers, compensation changes, and separations.
• Support employee benefit programs and answer benefits questions.
• Coordinate leave administration, including FMLA, ADA, and other leaves.
• Support workers' compensation administration and injury reporting.
• Assist with performance review processes and manager follow-up.
• Coordinate and track employee training and development initiatives.
• Assist with employee engagement activities and company events.
• Monitor attendance and reporting; help supervisors with follow-up.
• Help ensure compliance with employment laws and company policies.
• Participate in HR projects and continuous improvement across SMT and The Rise Companies.
