Job summary

Studebaker Brackett PLLC seeks an experienced docketing professional to manage patent and trademark matters in a fast-paced IP practice. You will oversee docketing from USPTO and clients, generate reports, and ensure timely action while coordinating with a team.

The role requires a college degree and at least ten years of docketing experience, with strong knowledge of USPTO practices, electronic filing, and MS Office. Excellent communication and teamwork are essential.

  • Ability to monitor daily docket reports to ensure deadlines are met.

Responsibilities

  • Process and docket incoming correspondence from the USPTO.
  • Process and docket client instructions accurately and in a timely manner.
  • Review and delegate USPTO and client correspondence to appropriate team members for timely action.
  • Enter new patent and trademark matters into the IP Manager docketing system.
  • Prepare and distribute daily, weekly, and customized docket reports.
  • Review and clear daily docket reports and process USPTO filings in a timely and accurate manner.
  • Communicate directly with clients regarding deadlines, reminders, and status updates.
  • Coordinate and handle transfer matters.
  • Manage, implement, and ensure ongoing compliance with clients' standing instructions.
  • Identify, investigate, and resolve issues involving missing priority documents and priority claims, following each matter through to successful completion.

Current knowledge of USPTO practices and procedures;

Comprehensive understanding of electronic filing requirements;

Proficiency in managing and maintaining IP Manager and backup docketing systems.

Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Outlook, and Excel)

Experience preparing and providing client-requested reports;

Demonstrated ability to perform day-to-day docketing responsibilities while collaborating effectively with other docketing team members;

Team-player with collaborative spirit;

Ability to monitor daily docket reports to ensure all deadlines and due dates are accurately tracked and met;

Strong attention to detail;

Ability to independently and efficiently prioritize workflow;

Ability to work under pressure and adapt to various practice management systems;

Ability to follow clients’ standing instructions, including handling our client portal;

Ability to maintain positive communications with clients, practitioners, and colleagues;
