Ivy Tech Community College seeks a hands-on, industry-experienced Skills Training Instructor to launch and deliver a skills training program in network cabling and fiber optic installation. The instructor leads classroom and lab instruction across Bloomington, Fort Wayne, and Valparaiso campuses, preparing students for industry certification and coordinating the program’s culminating employer fair.

Qualifications

• Three years of verifiable field experience in low-voltage cabling or fiber optic installation.
• Ability to teach technical, hands-on content to adult learners.
• Ability to manage a lab-based learning environment and pace a multi-week cohort.
• Coordinate enrollment, scheduling, materials, lab resources, and student tracking.
• Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple cohorts and reporting.
• Clear, professional written and verbal communication.
• Combination of technical education, industry certification, and verifiable field experience.

Responsabilités

• Deliver eight-week curriculum on campus including boot camp orientation, two-week fiber optic training, and four-week network cabling training.
• Lead hands-on, lab-based instruction and manage cohort pacing and student engagement.
• Prepare students for fiber optic installer and network cable installation exams and coordinate testing.
• Support on-site or off-site certification testing and maintain Canvas course content.
• Recruit and enroll students for each cohort and manage intake documentation and rosters.
• Plan and coordinate culminating employer fair with Career Link partners.
• Maintain campus training lab, equipment inventory, and ATF compliance readiness.
• Collaborate with Dean, Program Chair, and Campus leadership, sharing student success stories.
• Submit cohort reports and participate in program improvement discussions and accreditation activities.
• Uphold safety standards and use Canvas for teaching, learning, assessment, and communication.
