Job summary

Ivy Tech Community College – Bloomington seeks a hands-on Skills Training Instructor to launch and deliver a network cabling and fiber optic installation program. This full-time role leads classroom and lab instruction, prepares students for industry certification exams, and manages cohort logistics and the training lab.

The eight-week curriculum runs on site in Mooresville, including boot camp, fiber optic and network cabling training, plus employment readiness training.

Qualifications

• Minimum of three years of verifiable field experience in low-voltage cabling or fiber installation; apprenticeship path acceptable.
• Ability to teach technical, hands-on content to adult learners.
• Ability to manage a lab-based learning environment and pace across cohorts.
• Strong organizational skills to manage multiple cohorts in parallel with compliance.
• Clear written and verbal communication with campus leadership and partners.
• Combination of technical education, industry certification, and verifiable field experience.

Responsibilities

• Deliver eight-week on-site curriculum in Mooresville, including boot camp and training.
• Lead hands-on, lab-based instruction and manage cohort pacing and student engagement.
• Prepare students for fiber optic installer certification and network cable exams.
• Coordinate certification testing and testing logistics on-site or off-site.
• Maintain course content in the College’s Canvas LMS.
