Job summary

Orbis Machinery, LLC, a small OEM manufacturer of custom industrial process equipment, seeks an Engineering Supervisor to lead a hands-on engineering team. The role focuses on solving technical challenges, designing equipment, and mentoring others from concept to manufacturing.

You will balance hands-on design work with team leadership, provide technical direction, and collaborate with fabrication and operations to meet project goals while continuously improving engineering practices.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering Technology, or related field; equivalent experience considered
• Experience designing industrial machinery or rotating equipment
• Proficiency with SolidWorks, Inventor, or similar CAD software
• Strong understanding of mechanical systems, rotating equipment, and power transmission components
• Experience with weldments, machining, and mechanical assembly
• Knowledge of GD&T, fits, tolerances, and manufacturing drawing practices
• Ability to perform engineering calculations and troubleshoot equipment
• Experience mentoring or leading engineers or designers preferred

Responsibilities

• Lead and mentor a small engineering team as an active contributor.
• Assign and prioritize work based on project requirements and deadlines.
• Provide technical guidance and feedback to team members.
• Design and support custom industrial equipment using CAD software.
• Conduct calculations for horsepower, torque, shafts, bearings, drives.
• Review 3D models, fabrication drawings, and BOMs for accuracy.
• Support new designs, modifications, rebuilds, and reverse-engineering projects.
• Collaborate with fabrication, machining, and assembly to resolve issues.
• Provide hands-on engineering support during testing and troubleshooting.
• Coordinate with Sales, Purchasing, vendors, and customers on technical needs.
• Ensure projects and drawing packages are completed on schedule.
• Support standardization and continuous improvement of designs and processes.
