Job summary

Orbis Machinery, LLC is seeking an Engineering Supervisor to lead and mentor a small engineering team while remaining hands‑on in design work on our custom industrial process equipment. This role combines technical leadership with direct engineering contributions to ongoing projects.

You will design with 3D CAD, perform calculations, review drawings, and collaborate closely with fabrication and manufacturing to bring concepts through production.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field preferred.
• Experience designing industrial machinery or custom OEM equipment.
• Proficiency with SolidWorks, Autodesk Inventor, or similar 3D CAD software.
• Strong understanding of mechanical systems, rotating equipment, and power transmission components.
• Experience with GD&T, fits, tolerances, and manufacturing drawing practices.

Responsibilities

• Lead, mentor, and provide day‑to‑day technical direction to a small engineering team while remaining an active working member of the team.
• Assign and prioritize work based on project requirements, production needs, and deadlines.
• Provide technical guidance, coaching, and constructive feedback to team members.
• Design and support custom industrial process equipment and mechanical systems using 3D CAD software.
• Perform engineering calculations related to horsepower, torque, shaft loading, bearing selection, drive systems, and other mechanical components.
• Review 3D models, fabrication drawings, machining drawings, assembly drawings, and bills of materials for accuracy, completeness, and manufacturability.
• Support new equipment designs, modifications, rebuilds, replacement parts, and reverse‑engineering projects.
• Collaborate with Fabrication, Machining, and Assembly to resolve design and manufacturing issues.
• Provide hands‑on engineering support during fabrication, assembly, equipment testing, troubleshooting, and root‑cause analysis.
• Work with Sales, Purchasing, vendors, and customers on technical requirements as needed.
• Help ensure engineering projects and drawing packages are completed accurately and on schedule.
• Support standardization and continuous improvement of designs and processes.
