Job summary

HDT Global in Huntsville, AL seeks an Engineering Director on-site to lead safety, quality, and oversight of the Huntsville Engineering Team, guiding planning, scheduling, and personnel management to meet budgets and requirements.

This hands-on role covers testing, design, analysis, and prototyping, with responsibility for budgets, schedules, and cross-functional collaboration with customers and senior management.

Qualifications

• Must have 10+ years' experience including prior management experience.
• Experience with Government contracting, bid and proposal, and execution.
• Proven ability to lead gated artifacts to customers and senior officials.
• Hands-on building, testing prototypes, and design reviews.

Responsibilities

• Supervise and mentor engineering team through cross training, developing skills, and leading from the front.
• Estimate engineering statement of work and level of effort for complex products.
• Manage budgets, costs, and schedule inputs for design assignments and technical reviews.
• Support proposal activities, technical write-ups, and provide quotes to Sales and BD.
• Demonstrate understanding of MIL and commercial standards essential for equipment design and compliance.
• Hands-on building, fitting, and testing prototypes.
