Job summary

Macha PSM is seeking a Director of Engineering to lead the engineering organization in Huntsville, AL, ensuring high-quality delivery across projects. This full-time, on-site role focuses on strategy, resource planning, and cross-functional collaboration with project managers and consultants.

The candidate will mentor engineers, guide designs, and drive improvements in processes, safety culture, and the integration of software tools with process safety systems.

Qualifications

• Professional Engineer license or the ability to obtain a license.
• Experience with process safety information development (P&IDs, relief system design, material and energy balance, inventory calculations).
• Strong engineering management experience overseeing multidisciplinary teams.
• Proven leadership with mentoring engineers and building high-performing teams.
• Experience working with software teams to support engineering tools and automation.
• Solid project management including planning, budgeting, risk management, and on-time delivery.
• Experience integrating engineering systems, data, and workflows to improve reliability.
• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Engineering (Chemical, Mechanical, or related).
• Experience in process safety, industrial facilities, or regulated environments (EPA/OSHA) is beneficial.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills with attention to quality and safety.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills for technical and non-technical stakeholders.
• Ability to work on-site in Huntsville, AL and collaborate across offices.

Responsibilities

• Oversee engineering strategy, resource planning, and project execution.
• Guide engineering teams, reviewing and approving technical designs and analyses.
• Coordinate with project managers and consultants to meet deadlines and quality standards.
• Collaborate with leadership to improve processes and best practices.
• Support integration between software, engineering tools, and process safety methodologies.
• Mentor engineers, support recruitment, and foster a culture of safety, innovation, and continuous improvement.
• Deliver engineering work on time and within scope.
