Job summary

School Facility Management LLC (SFM) seeks a Custodial Supervisor (Working Supervisor) to lead custodial teams in a school setting within the Greater Nashville area. This hands-on leadership role oversees staff while performing cleaning duties and coordinates shifts from 9:00 AM to 6:30 PM with a 30-minute unpaid meal break.

The position requires 2+ years of custodial experience in a supervisory capacity, excellent communication and organizational skills, and the ability to adapt schedules for

Qualifications

• 2+ years custodial/janitorial experience, including supervisory duties.
• Experience supervising, training, and directing staff.
• Knowledge of commercial cleaning methods, equipment, and safety procedures.
• Floor care and specialty cleaning experience preferred.
• Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
• Ability to manage schedules, staffing coverage, inspections, and service concerns.
• Basic computer skills and experience with electronic timekeeping systems.
• Background checks required.
• Valid driver’s license.

Responsibilities

• Supervise, train, schedule, and direct custodial staff.
• Coordinate staffing and operations across shifts between 7:00 AM and 10:00 PM, with some weekend events.
• Adjust hours for school activities, events, and staffing needs.
• Perform cleaning duties when needed and support the team.
• Monitor attendance, productivity, schedules, and timesheets.
• Ensure cleaning standards, safety policies, and client expectations are met.
• Conduct quality inspections and address service concerns.
• Maintain relationships with school administrators, facility managers, and clients.
• Coordinate building setups, events, and cleaning projects.
• Oversee routine floor care (VCT, carpet, scrubbing, buffing, waxing).
• Complete work orders, reports, and administrative documentation.
• Assist with employee training and onboarding.
• Provide coverage when staffing requires.
