Job summary

CBC Global Network is seeking a Controls & Automation Technician for an established manufacturer in the Richmond, Virginia area. This hands-on role supports automated production equipment and control systems through troubleshooting, repair, preventive maintenance, and continuous improvement.

Strong candidates combine controls knowledge with practical mechanical and electrical troubleshooting ability. The position offers a day shift, 40 hours per week, occasional Saturdays, on-call support, and a

Qualifications

High school diploma or GED with apprenticeship or equivalent technical training.
Proficiency troubleshooting PLC-controlled systems and automated equipment.
Familiarity with PLC programming concepts (ladder logic, function block diagrams, and structured text).
Experience with Modbus, Profibus, industrial Ethernet, PROFINET, or IO-Link.
Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and perform physical work in an industrial environment.

Responsibilities

Install, test, troubleshoot, repair, and maintain production equipment and automation components.
Diagnose control-system failures and restore reliable operation.
Perform root-cause analysis and implement corrective actions.
Evaluate repair-versus-replace options for components when needed.
Document maintenance work and software/hardware changes.
Read electrical schematics and work orders.
Collaborate with maintenance, operators, engineers, production leadership, and contractors.
