Job summary

General Dynamics Electric Boat is seeking engineers to support COLUMBIA Class construction in Groton, CT. You will address deckplate issues, provide engineering oversight to trades, and help ensure delivery aligned with design intent.

This role involves interfacing with Operations, SUPSHIP, PMS397, and other groups, with mentoring for engineers new to construction and a path to sea-trial support. US security clearance or ability to obtain one is required.

Qualifications

• BS degree in one of the listed engineering fields.
• 0–5 years of postgraduate engineering experience.
• Ability to obtain a DoD Secret security clearance or higher.

Responsibilities

• Provide engineering oversight and assistance to trade personnel.
• Evaluate emergent shipyard issues and develop technical resolutions.
• Interpret design, drawing, and specification requirements.
• Provide direction and evaluation to Groton trades via CNs and UNSATs.
• Support final assembly, test, certification, and delivery for COLUMBIA Class.
• Surveil manufacturing, inspection, and testing of material in Groton shipyard.
• Lead multidisciplinary engineering evaluations.
• Facilitate design improvements and lessons learned.
• Coordinate knowledge transfer to the Construction Support Engineering team.
