Job summary

General Dynamics Electric Boat in Groton, CT seeks talented engineers to support COLUMBIA Class construction, test, and sea trials through final assembly and delivery. This 2nd shift role requires hands-on problem solving, cross-discipline collaboration, and a focus on safety and quality to meet design intent.

Responsibilities include oversight of trades, rapid issue resolution, interpretation of drawings, and coordination with design and engineering SMEs to implement lessons learned and process

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in a relevant engineering field (Mechanical, Aerospace, Structural, Civil, Marine, or Electrical).
• 5+ years of discipline-specific engineering experience (structural, mechanical, piping or electrical).
• Ability to obtain a DoD Secret clearance or higher is required.

Responsibilities

• Provide engineering oversight and assistance to trade personnel.
• Evaluate emergent shipyard issues and rapidly develop technically acceptable resolutions.
• Interpret design, drawings, and specification requirements.
• Provide direction to Groton trades via CNs and TIR UNSATs.
• Support final assembly, test, certification, and delivery activities for COLUMBIA Class.
• Surveillance of manufacturing, inspection, and testing of material in Groton shipyard.
• Lead multidisciplinary engineering evaluations.
• Facilitate design implementation, lessons learned, and process improvements.
• Coordinate engagement of design and engineering SMEs in the construction sequence.
