Job summary

TARC in Louisville, KY seeks a Mechanic Pre-Apprentice to learn and perform mechanical repairs under supervision. You will support safety and customer service culture while following policies and regulations; the role includes on-the-job training and classroom components to meet apprenticeship requirements.

Ideal candidates are currently enrolled in a high school auto program, hold a valid Kentucky or Indiana driver's license, and can read, follow instructions, communicate effectively, and pass

Qualifications

• Currently enrolled in High School auto program.
• Hold a valid KY or IN driver’s license.
• Must be able to read, follow instructions and communicate effectively.
• Pass a physical examination including a drug screen.
• Successful performance on pre-employment tests.

Responsibilities

• Learn to perform mechanical repairs and shop tasks under supervision.
• Assist mechanics with lifting and maneuvering heavy parts and components.
• Diagnose and inspect vehicles to determine causes of issues.
• Determine proper course of action to facilitate repairs.
• Maintain and repair bus systems to ensure operational fitness.
• Operate tools and equipment related to bus repair.
• Complete work orders and follow safety procedures.
