Job summary

KPFF Consulting Engineers is seeking a Bridge Engineering Intern to work with experienced engineers on transportation projects. You will gain hands-on experience in bridge analysis, design, plan development, and construction support, learning how technical decisions respond to site conditions, agency requirements, constructability, and project goals.

Qualifications

• Enrollment in a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree program in Civil or Structural Engineering.
• Completed coursework in statics and mechanics of materials by internship start.
• Completed at least two design courses (concrete, steel, wood, or masonry) by start.
• Basic understanding of structural engineering fundamentals including free-body, shear, axial, and moment diagrams.
• Interest in bridge engineering and infrastructure design.
• Minimum GPA 3.0 in undergrad coursework.
• Strong written and verbal communication; ability to work in a team.

Responsibilities

• Assist with analysis and design of bridge components and related structures under licensed engineers.
• Prepare and check engineering calculations, design sketches, quantities, and supporting documentation.
• Support development of plans, details, and deliverables using structural analysis and CAD software.
• Coordinate with engineers, technicians, and other disciplines to understand constraints and develop solutions.
• Contribute to team discussions, quality-control reviews, and problem-solving efforts.
• Participate in Weekly Intern Training Series and mentoring opportunities.
