Job summary

Johnson & Johnson’s DePuy Synthes division in West Chester, PA, is seeking an Engineer, Biomechanical Engineering to drive design and development of implants and instrumentation across the product life cycle.

The role requires 2+ years in medical devices, CAD proficiency, and strong problem-solving abilities. Responsibilities include regulatory support, design verification, and collaboration with cross-functional teams in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

• BS in Mechanical Engineering, Biomedical Engineering, or equivalent; Master’s degree preferred.
• Minimum 2+ years design and development experience in medical devices or biomechanical systems.
• Experience with CAD software (Pro-E, Creo, SolidWorks).
• Understanding of GD&T, tolerancing, and manufacturing processes.
• Experience with GMP, QSR and ISO quality requirements preferred.
• Strong communication and collaboration with Health Care Professionals and sales/marketing.

Responsibilities

• Lead design and development projects with oversight across cross-functional teams.
• Engage health care professionals to define user needs and design inputs.
• Solve design problems using CAD, prototyping, and testing.
• Develop verification/validation plans and support regulatory submissions.
• Collaborate with supply chain and manufacturing to optimize designs.
• Ensure compliance with MDR, FDA Design Controls, and 510(k)/IDE activities.
• Perform patent reviews and support cost improvement projects.
• Follow all laws, policies, and uphold ethics and compliance.
