Job summary

Wayne Memorial Hospital in Honesdale, PA, seeks a full-time on-site Physician Assistant or Certified Registered Nurse Practitioner to join the orthopedic team with a focus on hand and wrist care. You will support evaluation, treatment and ongoing management of upper-extremity conditions alongside the hand and wrist surgeon.

The role includes outpatient clinics, perioperative and postoperative care, patient education, and close collaboration with the broader orthopedic care team to promote

Qualifications

• Master’s degree and graduation from an accredited Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner program.
• Current Pennsylvania PA or CRNP license and national certification for the role.
• Current DEA registration, as applicable to prescribing responsibilities.
• Orthopedic/outpatient clinical experience preferred; hand/upper-extremity focus preferred.
• Strong clinical assessment, communication, teamwork and patient education skills.

Responsibilities

• Evaluate patients with hand, wrist and upper-extremity conditions with histories, focused exams and documentation.
• Collaborate with the hand and wrist surgeon to develop and implement treatment plans.
• Provide follow-up care for surgical and non-surgical patients and coordinate next steps with the surgeon.
• Support clinic procedures and perioperative care within scope of practice.
• Educate patients and families on diagnoses, treatment options, rehabilitation, wound care and activity restrictions.
• Order and review diagnostic studies, including imaging, and communicate results with the surgeon.
• Maintain accurate EHR documentation, orders and referrals.
• Coordinate care with nursing, medical assistants, therapy services and surgical team.
• Participate in quality improvement initiatives and clinic efficiency efforts.
