Job summary

Leeds Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust is seeking an experienced Specialist Biomedical Scientist in Haematology to help shape, deliver and improve patient care within a large Pathology department.

The role requires HCPC registration, an accredited Biomedical Sciences degree, and a Specialist Portfolio in Haematology, with leadership skills to supervise junior staff and ensure ISO15189 accreditation. The post involves a 24/7 rota and collaboration with multiple teams across LTHT.

Qualifications

• Accredited degree in biomedical sciences or equivalent acceptable to HCPC and IBMS.
• Registered Biomedical Scientist with the HCPC.
• Specialist Portfolio in Haematology.
• Morphology competence and ability to work in a 24/7 rota.
• Ability to supervise and develop junior staff.

Responsibilities

• Carry out specialist haematology investigations and clinical technical work.
• Maintain QC and EQA processes and support ISO15189 accreditation.
• Supervise and support junior staff within the laboratory.
• Communicate complex information to colleagues and external organisations.
• Contribute to day-to-day running of the laboratory sections.
