Job summary

WellLife Network is seeking an Assistant Habilitation Specialist in New York to help operate the classroom and support participants with daily living activities. You will implement goals, monitor progress, and assist with behavior support under APD/OPWDD guidelines.

The role requires a high school diploma and experience with developmental disabilities is preferred. Training in AMAP, SCIP, CPR and First Aid is expected along with data entry duties and confidentiality maintenance.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Experience working with people with developmental disabilities preferred.

Responsibilities

• Ensure unit activities enhance each person’s social responsibility, independence, dignity, and growth.
• Implement goals to maximize participants’ independence as determined by the IDT.
• Provide daily living activities training and, if needed, perform tasks for total support (e.g., shaving, toileting, hygiene).
• Monitor progress by collecting and documenting performance data.
• Serve as a positive role model in program and community settings.
• Provide behavioral interventions when necessary using least restrictive OPWDD techniques.
• Complete required techniques in AMAP, SCIP, CPR, and First Aid.
• Follow established activity schedules for each consumer.
• Prepare and file paperwork in the absence of the Habilitation Specialist with supervisor support.
• Enter data accurately into the electronic data system.
• Maintain a clean, safe, stimulating, and appropriately decorated unit.
• Supervise lunch periods and assist with feeding and related tasks as needed.
• Participate in medical, psychiatric, and other appointments for participants.
• Maintain confidentiality and adapt to changing caseloads and locations.
• Other duties as requested.
