Job summary

The US Oncology Network's Texas Oncology is seeking a Coding Specialist to join the Central Business Office in Richardson, TX. This full-time hybrid remote role requires residency in Texas and works Monday–Friday with in-office and remote duties.

Under supervision, you will assign ICD-9 and CPT-4 codes, support the Compliance Program, ensure QA accuracy, and maintain patient confidentiality while coordinating with medical staff.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent; completion of a course in medical record technology.
• Minimum one year of coding medical experience; three years preferred.
• Applicable certification preferred.
• Knowledge of ICD-9 and CPT-4 coding systems highly desirable.

Responsibilities

• Abstracts clinical and demographic information to assign ICD-9 and CPT-4 codes according to guidelines.
• Identifies principal and secondary diagnoses with minimal error based on standards.
• Codes with an accuracy of 97% based on QA internal reviews.
• Records all diagnostic procedures and assigns appropriate procedure codes.
• Requests diagnoses from physicians when information is not recorded.
• Maintains confidentiality of medical information.
• Works with staff to coordinate medical information and patient charts.
