Job summary

City of Evanston is seeking a Gymnastics and Dance Program Coordinator to oversee the Chandler-Newberger and Prieto Community Center activities. You will supervise classes, coordinate staff and contractors, and ensure safe, quality programming for youth across multiple centers.

The role involves planning schedules, managing registrations, and collaborating with city departments on budgets and communications. Evening and weekend hours may be required to support programming.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree preferred from an accredited college or university in Recreation, Education, Leisure Studies or a substantially similar area
• Three years or more of programming experience in a parks and recreation program can substitute for degree
• CPR/First Aid certification preferred or ability to obtain within six months
• USAG membership preferred or ability to obtain within 2 months

Responsibilities

• Supervises, plans, organizes and implements gymnastics, cheerleading, tumbling, dance classes, camps, programs
• Train, schedule, evaluate and discharge staff in the program as needed
• Evaluates and makes recommendations for improvement of programs
• Manage independent contracts with recreation vendors
• Actively seek out new vendors and independent contractors to develop, expand, and strengthen programs
• Submits information for the program guide and coordinates program marketing
• Manages room rentals, birthday parties, and private lessons at Chandler-Newberger Community Center
• Recruits, interviews, and recommends part-time staff, seasonal staff, and volunteers
• Prepares program revenue and expense budget sheets
• Develops, prepares, monitors and evaluates program offerings including scheduling, descriptions and progress monitoring
