Job summary

Crossroads YMCA is seeking a Gymnastics Coach to lead engaging, safe classes for youth in Crown Point, Indiana. You will plan age-appropriate lessons, adapt to diverse abilities, and supervise participants while fostering confidence and growth in a welcoming environment.

The role emphasizes teamwork, communication with families, and ongoing professional development, with opportunities to participate in YMCA programs and community initiatives.

Qualifications

• Minimum of six months of experience participating in sports.
• Certifications required within 30 days of hire: CPR/AED & First Aid and New Leader Orientation.
• Evenings and weekends availability required.

Responsibilities

• Lead fun, energetic, safe, and educational gymnastics classes.
• Create age- and skill-appropriate lesson plans that help participants develop and progress.
• Adapt instruction to accommodate different abilities and learning needs.
• Provide appropriate supervision and maintain a safe learning environment.
• Teach gymnastics fundamentals while encouraging confidence, coordination, and skill development.
• Build positive relationships with participants, parents, and families.
• Communicate with parents about participant progress when appropriate.
• Maintain attendance records and verify class rosters.
• Complete daily equipment safety checks and cleaning tasks.
• Participate in required trainings, staff meetings, and YMCA events.
