Job summary

Fly Alliance is seeking a capable Second in Command based in Orlando to assist the Captain in safe, efficient flight operations across all phases. You will collaborate on flight planning using weather data, NOTAMs, and performance information, while conducting thorough preflight checks to ensure airworthiness.

Requirements include an FAA Commercial Pilot Certificate with Instrument Rating and a current First Class Medical, plus relevant Part 135 experience and Gulfstream type rating.

Qualifications

  • FAA Commercial Pilot Certificate with Instrument Rating and a current First Class Medical.
  • Experience meets Fly Alliance and FAA minimum flight-hour and qualification requirements; prior Part 135 charter experience preferred.
  • Gulfstream experience and applicable type rating preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of FAA regulations and professional flight operations.
  • CRM and effective communication, sound judgment in dynamic or emergency situations.
  • High school diploma or GED; authorized to work in the United States; East Coast residence required.
  • Meets FAA medical/physical standards; capable of handling baggage/equipment up to 75 lbs.
  • Commitment to safety and polished service-forward appearance.
  • Willing to travel extensively, including nights, weekends, holidays, and overnights.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as Second in Command, assisting the Captain to ensure safe, efficient flight operations across all phases.
  • Collaborate on flight planning using weather, NOTAMs, airport data, performance, and other resources.
  • Conduct preflight inspections and determine airworthiness.
  • Support fuel planning, weight and balance, load manifests, and required documentation.
  • Operate the aircraft under Captain’s direction per FAA regulations and SOPs.
  • Communicate weather, turbulence, routing and other factors affecting flight and passengers.
  • Assist with passenger, baggage, and cargo handling at terminals and FBOs with professional demeanor.
  • Accurately complete flight logs and operational records timely.
  • Maintain qualifications, currency, medical, and required training; support CRM.
  • Coordinate with Flight Ops, Maintenance, Crew Scheduling; contribute to Safety Management System.

Job description

What you’ll do
  • Serve as Second in Command, assisting the Captain to ensure safe, efficient flight operations across all phases.
  • Collaborate on flight planning using weather, NOTAMs, airport data, performance, and other operational resources.
  • Conduct thorough preflight inspections; help determine aircraft airworthiness and readiness.
  • Support fuel planning, weight and balance, load manifests, and all required documentation.
  • Operate the aircraft under the Captain’s direction in accordance with FAA regulations, company policies, manuals, and SOPs.
  • Continuously communicate operational factors (weather, turbulence, routing) impacting the flight, crew, or passengers.
  • Assist with passenger, baggage, and cargo handling at terminals and FBOs; represent Fly Alliance with a professional, hospitable demeanor.
  • Accurately complete flight logs and operational records in a timely manner.
  • Maintain qualifications, currency, medical, and required training; actively support effective CRM.
  • Coordinate professionally with Flight Operations, Maintenance Control, Crew Scheduling, and other teams; contribute to the Safety Management System and safety culture.
What you’ll bring
  • Certificates & Medical: FAA Commercial Pilot Certificate with Instrument Rating and a current First Class Medical.
  • Experience: Meets Fly Alliance and FAA minimum flight-hour and qualification requirements; prior Part 135 charter experience preferred.
  • Gulfstream: Gulfstream experience and applicable type rating preferred.
