Job summary

Ohio State University’s The Blackwell Inn at Fisher College and Pfahl Hall is hiring a Guestroom Attendant. The role maintains a safe, clean environment, cleans guestrooms, meeting rooms, offices, restrooms and public areas.

Evenings and weekends are required; this full-time position operates 24/7 with varying shifts. Candidates should have a high school diploma or equivalent and custodial certification experience, plus strong customer service skills.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Six months in Custodial Worker 1 title or equivalent experience; completion of department specific advanced custodian certification testing.
• Flexibility to perform a variety of tasks, read directions, and perform basic computer inquiries.

Responsibilities

• Clean guestrooms, meeting rooms, restrooms and public areas.
• Operate cleaning equipment and maintain floors and carpets.
• Move furniture and wash windows; clear snow when needed.
• Work evenings and weekends; schedule varies with guest activity.
• Ensure safety and cleanliness of building entrances and walkways.

Job Description

The Guestroom Attendant maintains a safe and clean environment for the guests and staff of the The Blackwell Inn at Fisher College and Pfahl Hall; cleans guestrooms, meeting rooms, offices, restrooms and public areas; cleans doors, staircases, walls, mirrors and light fixtures; operates electrical cleaning equipment; maintains floors and carpets; moves furniture; washes windows; removes trash; clears snow; cleans building entrances and walkways; evening and weekend work is required; hours vary, and work schedule is determined by the guest activity in the building. This is a full-time position for an operation open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year and does require evenings, weekends and holidays.

Minimum Education Required

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Six months in Custodial Worker 1 title or equivalent experience; documentation of successful completion of department specific, advanced custodian certification testing (examples include Cleaning Management Institute, 3M(TM) S.M.A.R.T. Program, or other certification program recognized in the cleaning industry as reputable); ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide whole numbers and to read and write common vocabulary plus.

Preferred Qualifications

Strong customer service skills and related work experience in an upscale hotel desired; flexibility to perform a variety of tasks, read directions, and perform basic computer inquiries desired.
